The Bentwoud is a nature and recreation area of 800 hectares, in the province of Zuid-Holland with young forest and no less than 80 kilometres of hiking and cycling trails. Part of this beautiful area is the National Children's Tree Forest Bentwoud. It consists of a Birth Tree Room and four Life Tree Rooms.
In the Birth Tree Room, parents or grandparents plant a tree to celebrate their baby's new life. The forester selects the right tree and parents get to plant it themselves. This creates a balanced forest system.
In the Life Tree Rooms, parents, classmates or other loved ones, have planted trees in honour of their deceased babies. Up to 500 Life Trees grow in a Children's Memorial Place. They are living monuments in memory of these children.
