Near the largest hunebed in the Netherlands, Hunebed D27, you will find the Hunebed Centre. A museum where you walk through 150,000 years of history.
You start in the museum with an exhibition on the Funnel Beaker Culture. This takes place over 5,000 years ago, in the time of the hunebed builders. Here you will learn all about this inventive people who buried their dead in megalithic tombs. How did they build with those enormously heavy stones? What was found in the tombs. You will see it in this museum.
But there is more, you are taken by the hand through prehistoric Drenthe. On weekends and school holidays, Primal Men welcome you and show you their daily life in their simple farmhouse.
Discover the wild land of prehistory, where wolves, aurochses and bears lived. Through the museum, multimedia productions, reconstructions and much more, you will enter the time of the hunebed builders and their ancestors and descendants.
