Near the Brouwersdam, the crossing to Zeeland, is the bunker complex De Punt. The complex, which was built by the Germans, to defend occupied Goeree-Overflakkee from the Allies, is also called Widerstandsnest 220 H and consists of 15 bunkers that are part of the Atlantic Wall.
When the war was over, most of these bunkers became buried under the sand and overgrown by bramble bushes. A group of volunteers re-excavated the entire complex and turned it into a walking trail. On most bunkers, you will find an information board describing the bunker's function. There were shelter bunkers, ammunition bunkers, a water storage bunker, a toilet bunker, bunkers with tank turrets and a searchlight garage.
