You will also pass through Meijel, which has known turbulent times: it was Spanish, Austrian and Belgian territory. Moreover, for centuries it has fought with its neighbour Helden about who was the boss of the rich peat moors that lay between the two places. Perhaps because decorative objects from Roman times have been found near Grashoek...
