Mill route in Berkelland
Borculo, Eibergen, Ruurlo
Cycle past various mills in the Achterhoek region of Berkelland. Follow the river Berkel and you will automatically come across all the beautiful spots!
First you pass the Mallumse Molen. This water mill was built in 1748 and functions as a corn and peel mill. The Piepermolen, built in 1976, is the second destination. The mill bears the name of the first miller of this mill, whose name was Herman Pieper. Incidentally, he also gave the name himself.
The next mill on the cycle route is the mill Agneta, built in 1851, also named after a person. The wife of Baron Van Heeckeren van Kell, who commissioned the construction of this mill, was called Agneta. This mill is used as a sawmill and gristmill.
On the route, you will also find a water mill: De Stenen Tafel. This historic mill can be found in the middle of Borculo and can be recognised by its two large wooden paddle wheels.
Then there is another mill on the route for which you have to deviate a little towards Neede. There you will find the Hollandsche Molen, built in 1926. This mill was built relatively recently, as the previous mill was destroyed by a cyclone in 1925. The second destination is
