Nieuw-Loosdrecht, Groenekan, Maartensdijk

Nieuw-Loosdrecht is not that new anymore, it was already mentioned in the 13th century, only then it was called de Sijpe. Oud-Loosdrecht already had a church, Sijpe just a chapel. However, when it was promoted to parish church in 1400, there was an old church and a new church. This is how the names Oud-Loosdrecht and Nieuw-Loosdrecht came into being. The name Sijpe was perpetuated by Sypesteyn castle, which, incidentally, was not built until the early 20th century. The Stille Plas, also called Breukeleveensche Plas, is part of the Loosdrechtse Plassen. During this route, you cycle right through it.
