Balkbrug, Oud-Avereest, Dedemsvaart

Discover the Balkbrug and Dedemsvaart area by bike! This cycle route is the perfect way to do so. Cycle along the beautiful Reest river. You will cross it twice during the route. You will pass many meadows, farms and roads with tall trees.

Soon you will arrive at the De Wheem visitors centre. Discover nature in the badger sett and on the Badger Bas trail. Or do you dare to take the exciting nature trail? Close to De Wheem, you will cross the Reest and enter a fantastic nature reserve with forest and heathland. Get off your bike here and see for yourself how vast nature is from the Takkenhoogte lookout hill. If you cycle a little further, you might just come across Scottish Highlanders...

We cycle back towards the Reest if we have to cycle a short distance along the main road. Fortunately not for too long, because we quickly find the quiet farmlands.

Our tip: When you reach junction 18, cycle to junction 26 in Dedemsvaart. There are lots of fun places to get off your bike! For example, visit the animals at the DeKibo petting zoo or find your way through the labyrinth. Oh, and don't forget your swimming gear on a hot day! You can swim and play in the Kotermeer.
