Emmen, Odoorn

Emmen's new housing estates are not built directly adjacent to the city to preserve nature. As a result, Emmen has an open and green character. From the city you can drive straight into nature and up the Hondsrug, with its 26 metres above sea level the highest ‘mountain’ in Drenthe. In Odoorn, the Margarethakerk dates from the nineteenth century, but the consistory is part of an earlier church. This was built as early as the twelfth century with granite boulders.
