Wisents are Europe's largest land mammals. They were almost extinct in the Netherlands, but since 2007 a herd has been living on the Kraansvlak of the National Park South-Kennemerland.
Watch the impressive animals from the Wisent viewpoint, located in the enclosed area where the wisents live. Behind a wall of wooden poles, you can take in the animals in a sheltered spot. Here you look out over Lake Burdert, the largest dune lake in Kraansvlak.
Want to know more about the wisents, or perhaps go on an excursion and visit the animals with a forest ranger? Then drop by the visitor centre in Overveen.
