The Witte Kerkje De Terp in Oudorp was built on the high end of a beach ridge, on remains of earlier churches. Underlying foundations can be dated back to at least the 13th century. It is possible that the very first church stood there even earlier. That is not easy to say, as it was probably made of wood. For a long time, this was the God House of the Reformed Congregation.
Nowadays it is a place for events, often with a spiritual twist. Sound healing, for example, mantra singing or light meditation. But there are also performances by a pop choir and jazz bands. Or by a classical choir with special musical forms such as supplications, lamentations, comfort and love songs from the 17th century. And if you think it is high time to make your relationship official: you can also get married there. The little church is maintained and run entirely by volunteers.
To visit the Witte Kerkje, go very briefly off the junction route.
