Cycle route Citytrip through North Holland
Alkmaar, Castricum, De Woude
Join us on a citytrip by bike through various towns and villages in North Holland. Cycle through the meadows, across the water and discover the beautiful surroundings.
Alkmaar is well known as Holland's cheese city, but that title only partly covers the charge. For years, the city has been one of the best shopping cities in the Netherlands. Wandering along the monuments, you will be surprised by the beauty of the old centre.
On the Akerslotermeer you will find De Woude. Have you ever been to this island? Cross the bridge to this beautiful island with nature reserve. Discover the meadow birds and have a delicious lunch on the water.
On the way, you pass Wormerveer. The place name Wormerveer is a reference to a ferry across the Zaan to the village of Wormer on the other side. Although the ferry is no longer in use, the place name has not changed over the years.
Castricum's surroundings are also beautiful, with its extensive polder landscape, authentic windmills, characteristic farms and historic buildings.
And that's not all: get on your bike and let yourself be surprised.
