Kie Ellens first followed a painting course, but then opted for the spatial design course. His untitled sculpture is made of metal. Kie Ellens studied at the Minerva Academy in Groningen, where he graduated in spatial design. The artist has many commissions in public spaces to his name. His sculptures can also be found on all sorts of roundabouts in the country. Together with other artists, Kie Ellens formed Stichting Voorheen De Gemeente, which won the Margaret Prize in 2002.
