Most of the burial mounds were made during the Middle Bronze Age (1600-1000 B.C.), but one dates back to the Neolithic period (the New Stone Age, ca. 11,000 B.C.). The archaeological monuments prove that people lived in this region long ago.
The Toterfout burial mounds have been listed as national monuments since 1966. On bronze plates you will find explanations about the contents and structure of the mounds.
