This pole-mounted tjasker, the only one in the province of Groningen, was built in 1992 by the Groningen Employment Projects Foundation on behalf of the municipality of Scheemda. Construction took place in the foundation's carpentry workshop in Wildervank. The mill was officially inaugurated on 20 September 1993.
The tjasker was originally used as a smock mill for a nature reserve, but it could not remain there due to the growth of tall trees and bushes in the area. There was also no accommodation for the miller. In early 2001, the tjasker was moved to its current location, 75 metres from its ‘big brother’ on Pastorieweg.
Every winter, the mill is dismantled and stored.
