Once known as the 'Wenumse Saatmolen', this gem was acquired by the dukes of Gelderland around 1400, after which it began to fulfil its crucial role in the region.
After careful restoration between 1979 and 1983, the mill revives under the management of The Wenum Watermill Foundation. Not only does it serve as a time capsule to the past, but it also provides an idyllic setting for weddings and parties, complete with a visit to the water mill itself.
On a voluntary basis, grain is ground here for fodder, a reminder to the tradition and community life of yesteryear. The cycle path along the mill follows the track of the old Apeldoorn-Zwolle railway line.
The mill can be visited on Wednesdays and Saturdays 14:00-16:00, provided a miller is present. Of course, you can always view it from the outside.
