The predecessor of the present mill was built in 1840 and was destroyed by fire in 1853. In 1854 Jan Willem Spijkerboer had the present mill built on the remains of the burned mill. After the war they switched to grinding with an electric motor and from 1953 the windmill was no longer in use. In 1964, a demolition permit was applied for. Fortunately, the demolition did not take place and a restoration followed in 1966. Unfortunately, the mill was only able to run on a voluntary basis for a few years after that. Due to new defects, the mill came to a standstill again. A new restoration followed at the end of 1984. Since 2019, the mill De Tijd has been rebuilt and opened as a Bakkersmolen. In the mill there is a grinding shop, chocolaterie and catering facility.
