The term ‘gulden’ refers to ‘t Gulden Huys, the castle of Rixtel that once stood in the middle of this area. It is a name that perfectly fits the major role that water played, both in the past and in the present. After all, water was of great importance for transport, but also for textile production, for example for washing and dyeing fabrics.
In the coming years, the ‘Gulden Land’ will be developed into a complete nature reserve, where you can walk and cycle. This area offers plenty of space for flowers, plants, insects, birds and other animals.
