In the middle of Boksum, on top of a mound, lies the Sint Margrietkerk. This church was built in the 12th century and consists of Balegem tuff stone. Two centuries later, when the church was enlarged, brick made its appearance. In 1843, the gable roof came down completely and the tower also collapsed. These therefore date from a later date.
