It started with a tractor, a tough old Allgaier. Once used by the Tielbeke farming family, then discarded and sold and eventually bought back by Jan Tielbeke, who used it successfully in parades and harvest processions in the region. It led the Tielbeke family in the 1990s to the idea of starting an agricultural museum in an old mill in Luttenberg, a town in the middle of the Salland 'mountains' region.
'The museum aims to keep agricultural history alive, available and visible,' reports activity coordinator Gerda Luchtenberg. This is done by exhibiting all kinds of objects and machines from Salland's agricultural past. Including, of course, the Allgaier of the Tielbeke family. In addition, De Laarman pays special attention to the origin of our food, much needed at a time when some people really don't have a clue anymore. This is evident from the question Gerda Luchtenberg once heard a child ask: "Chocolate milk comes from brown cows, doesn't it? Surely, through a set-up with five themed islands (taste, meat, milk, healthy food and grain/bread), it should be possible to do something about this.
