The Ruin Church dates back to the 15th century and was originally known as the St. Peter and Paul Church. The cause of the destruction of the church during the Eighty Years' War is unknown. Some think it was the Geuzen, others suspect that a group of vagrants set the building on fire.
Only a third of the building was restored, the rest remained a ruin. This creates an atmospheric scene, where village visitors and residents, sipping on a glass of bubbles from the surrounding terraces, enjoy looking at. The unique sight of the Ruin Church still attracts many artists.
The Ruin Church is a popular venue for weddings, funerals, and cultural events.
