Enschede has had a Twents museum since 1930. The original collection originated from the art collection of textile manufacturer Jan Bernard van Heek. Today, there are mostly changing exhibitions, so it can't hurt to revisit every now and then. The museum has a large collection of ancient, modern and contemporary art.
