The history of restaurant De Heerlijckheit at Het Loo has its beginnings around 1620. An inn was built in that year to cater for tired travelers who could eat, drink and stay here. During the 18th century Het Loo Palace was built next to the inn and served as staff accommodation for the guests of lieutenant Willem III. Much later the inn stopped its operation and became a post office. The name Het Posthuis derives from that time. After the post office had been destroyed in a fire, an inn was yet again opened here. To this day, it is home to a fantastic restaurant that offers French cuisine. A great place to have lunch, dinner and not to forget located right next to Het Loo Palace.
