Cycle through the green streets of Apeldoorn, a city known for its peaceful atmosphere and beautiful old buildings. Apeldoorn also has wide, green cycle paths, allowing you to leisurely cross the city on your way to the wooded heart of the Veluwe.
West of Apeldoorn, your tour continues through Crown Estate Het Loo. This area, once the hunting grounds of the royal family, is characterised by vast forests, moors and a rich variety of flora and fauna. In autumn, the trees colour spectacularly, and in spring, nature awakens with fresh shades of green.
You soon arrive in Hoog Soeren, a small and authentic Veluwe village Hoog Soeren is surrounded by ancient forests and nestled among the rolling hills. The village exudes tranquillity and history, with small houses and winding roads. A picturesque landscape, where you have a good chance of spotting wildlife. Also visit the sheepfold at Hoog Buurlo and enjoy a deep purple blooming heather in August and September.
After Hoog Soeren, the route takes you to Radio Kootwijk, an imposing building in the middle of Veluwe nature that once had an important transmitting function.
