Reitdiephaven is the most photographed part of the city of Groningen after the Martinitoren. The colourful houses with their distinctive design by Oving architects are reminiscent of world heritage Willemstad in Curaçao.

The houses have two faces: on one side the colourful wood, on the other the sober red brick as used for years in the Groningen landscape. Not for nothing did this design win third prize at the Day of Architecture in 2009.
