At the intersection Pieter Kiesstraat - Kinderhuissingel in Haarlem, directly opposite each other, you will find two more very special murals by Haarlem artist Sidney Waerts (1976). One above Nico Weijers' hairshop and one on the residential house directly opposite.
Sidney made both works in 2020, in the middle of the corona era, a period when he was very concerned about his daughter's future world. So in both murals, the theme is the ‘new world’ and the search for new planets, but intertwined with an optimism about the new possibilities for children. ‘Because’, as Sidney says: ’The imagination, which we lose later in life, remains stimulated in children and the impossible can become true.’
