Data on the oldest mill in Zevenaar are from 1447. The current mill was built not before 1549. At that time, Zevenaar was part of the Duchy of Cleves. Until 1866, the mill remained in administration as a domain estate (property of the lord of the manor).
Around 1930, the sails (self-swinging) and tail were removed and emptied and the mill became a motor milling mill, which was shut down in 1955. However, the partly demolished inner body and the cap were spared.
