Cycle route strolling through rural Liemers
Didam, Babberich, Pannerden
This day is all about "strolling". First of all, you will enjoy strolling on your bike through the beautiful rural area between Didam, Babberich and Pannerden. A beautiful region that rubs shoulders with the river area and the German border. Here you will find cosy villages, impressive country estates and countryside as far as the eye can see. Ingredients that all guarantee a day enjoying peace and quiet. But on top of that, we have selected a number of special points of descent for you that make this day out complete!
You can stroll through Corry and Henk's beautiful ornamental gardens in Herwen. In these romantic, carefully designed gardens, you can stroll through a green oasis with ponds, a rose garden and gazebos. But you can also stretch your legs in the sculpture garden of Sculptures in Babberich or in the Dominee Stork Park, Didam's city park.
You can also stroll in the country shops, thrift shop and mill shop on the route. Great times to look for memories, edible or otherwise, of this fine bike ride. A nice baking mix for home, a bag of fruit for the road or maybe you will find that one recycled pearl you have been looking for so long.
A funny extra on this route can be found at junction 33: nature reserve de Oude Waal. You cycle across a wooden cycle bridge onto the water over a sort of peninsula. A tow ferry takes you, bike and all, back to the mainland. If you don't like the idea of a draw ferry, just skip junction 44 and cycle from junction 33 directly to junction 46.
If you start the route at Zevenaar station, you can cycle directly over a junction connection towards start junction 51.
