De Zoete Kers (The Sweet Cherry) is the Hoekman family business, started in 1992 in Goes with a shop called 'De Fruithoek'. They mainly sold apples and pears from their own orchard, supplemented by cherries, plums, berries and pumpkins.
The cherries proved to be a big crowd favourite. From there, they decided to plant more and more cherry trees in the orchard. In 1999, they expanded their business with a location in Serooskerke on Walcheren. Instead, cherries, plums and berries were planted in the orchard of this location. With apples and pears from fellow growers in the region, the shop in Serooskerke (Walcheren) could also be supplemented to a colourful assortment.
In 2013, the shop in Goes was forced to close due to the expansion of the industrial estate. That same year, the family started a new shop: this location in Noordwelle on Schouwen-Duiveland.
Cycling through the Schouw countryside, you can see De Zoete Kers' farm shop from afar. The characteristic black barn with clear white outline is completely within the traditional building style for Zeeland farm barns.
All year round, you'll find the finest fruit and vegetables here, fresh from our own land and otherwise from the land of a local farmer. In season, asparagus, glasswort, sea lavender and sweet strawberries are available here. In late summer, cherries, plums and berries are ripe.
Various cheeses from the local cheese farmer are also sold and there is an extensive department with all kinds of delicious fruit and vegetable juices.
