Nature reserve Flietsterbosk - Witmarsum
On the outskirts of Witmarsum is the Flietsterbosk, a varied recreational forest of about 15 hectares. By removing trees and bushes, Natuurmonumenten has created clearings here, allowing birds such as the golden oriole to nest. Species such as the blackcap, robin, collared redstart and nuthatch are also often seen here. Besides the rich bird population, you can sometimes encounter a hare or a roe deer in this small-scale forest.
