Three kilometres east of the Achterhoek church village of Vragender, between Lichtenvoorde and Winterswijk, is a unique peat bog area. This is a living bog since it is still expanding. In the Netherlands, there are less than a hundred hectares of living bogs left. The Vragenderveen, part of the Korenburgerveen, is 110 hectares large.
