Museum Palthehof has a permanent exhibition about Nieuwleusen's past and an annually changing theme exhibition. These exhibitions are mainly furnished with materials that have been lent by private persons for a year. The permanent exhibition is made up of the museum's own possessions. There is a schoolroom with authentic school desks, a farmer's kitchen with household objects and a 'beautiful room' with cabinets and garments.
In the crafts department, you can see farming tools and the inventories of various small craft businesses. There are also models of, among other things, a Nieuwleusen farm and a ship that used to transport its cargo of peat through the Dedemsvaart canal. Unfortunately, due to lack of space, only a small part of the extensive collection of Union bicycles can be shown. However, a prototype of today's racing bicycle and the unique bicycle on which European leaders made a bicycle tour through Amsterdam in 1998 can be seen.
