Museum farm ERF 29 on Kampereiland near Kampen offers a fascinating glimpse into farm life about a hundred years ago. The farm, situated on a mound, dates from the 19th century and was built in the traditional Saxon style. The history of the farmyard even dates back to 1444, when it was first leased out. This makes it a special place not only in terms of layout, but also in terms of historical value.
Inside the museum, you can explore several authentic rooms. Among other things, the front house houses a unique collection of traditional costume hats, while the ‘heerd’, a specially decorated room, gives an insight into daily life in the past, complete with bedsteads and original furniture. In the back house, you can see the old fireplace and the ‘geute’, where churning and washing took place in those days. In the farmyard, you can discover a collection of historical agricultural tools and take a break with a cup of coffee or tea.
Museum farm ERF not only fulfils a museum function, but also offers space for special occasions, such as weddings and group activities. The museum is run entirely by volunteers and runs on gifts and donations. Visitors can step back in time from May to September from Tuesday to Saturday between 10am and 4pm. For groups, visits are possible all year round by appointment. This special location brings the history of the Kampereiland to life in a lively way!
