Museum Belvédère - Heerenveen
Art collector, art dealer, gallery owner, curator, publisher and museum director Thom Mercuur had long dreamed of having his own museum. He did this in collaboration with Sjoerd de Vries and Boele Bregman who quickly took over his dream. Museum Belvédère was officially opened by Queen Beatrix in 2004. In the museum, designed by Eerde Schippers, you mainly see works by Frisian artists and kindred spirits that are not often exhibited. The collection contains different styles: constructivism, expressionism, impressionism, new figuration and realism.
