Munterslaan | Studio EarlyBirds - Haarlem

Studio EarlyBirds is an artist collective in Haarlem consisting of Australian Ben Plummer (1986) and Dutch Phylos Donkertino (1996). Phylos has a background as a graphic designer and Ben as a traditional sign painter. Together they create murals with mixed styles as illustrative and graphic, with graffiti and traditional elements.

In 2021, they created a mural in the tunnel on Munterslaan together with children from the neighbourhood. Unfortunately, black graffiti had been sprayed over that special artwork. In 2022, the artists from Studio Earlybirds decided it was time to take the passageway in hand again.

The new mural is completely in the underwater theme with raw elements and graffiti letters. Standing under the tunnel and turning around gives the effect of a fishbowl. The bench along the side has become part of the mural. To be sure, the mural is fully coated so that any new daubing can be removed immediately.
