Mill De Traanroeier is an octagonal upper wheel with scaffolding built in 1902 as a flour mill, which served for a time before electricity generation was there for the island of Texel. Seen both from the sea and from the land side, the mill largely makes up the look of Oudeschild due to its hefty dimensions.
Already in 1363, a standard mill - undoubtedly a flour mill - was built on Texel. Of course, given the island's population, the number of flour mills has been rather limited over time. During the most recent restoration, only the electricity generation facilities, which hinder a manual driving operation, were removed and two more grinding couples with new artificial stones were installed. The mill can now be visited as part of the Museum Kaap Skil.
