Cycle route from coast to coast

Oudeschild, Den Burg, De Koog
Texel, the island where you can always let the wind blow through your hair. This Cycle route leads you along the dike on the Wadden side. But you can also choose to cycle on the sea side and enjoy the view of the water. The sheep on the dyke still give you the ultimate Texel feeling.
You get to know Texel's three largest villages. On the Wadden side, you first encounter Oudeschild, a village with a harbour. The harbour used to be of great importance because many VOC ships left from there.
Next, you drive through Den Burg, which has been inhabited for a very long time. Archaeological excavations show that there was already a castle there in the 7th century. The town has a beautiful old town centre and a very cosy atmosphere.
Finally, you visit De Koog, a true Texel seaside resort. But it used to be a fishing village for a long time. The church in the village is the only remaining reminder of that time. The rest of the old fishing village was destroyed by several major storms.
So there is something for everyone on this route from coast to coast, where you will really get to know Texel.
