The Mariapeel is a unique high moor area in North Limburg, where nature and tranquillity are key. The landscape consists of heaths, shimmering pools and marshes and is home to special birds such as the bluethroat and the crane. Hiking and cycling trails around the area offer beautiful views of this protected Natura 2000 area. The traces of peat extraction give the landscape a historical character, while the serene silence and unspoilt nature provide a relaxing experience in one of the last remaining raised bog areas in the Netherlands.
