Not surprisingly, the Leersumse Veld lies near Leersum. It is a nature reserve of some 80 hectares and consists of woods and heathland and a few fens. The basis for this area was laid during the last ice age. However, man has given it its current form by digging up peat and deforestation. Later, various types of coniferous and deciduous trees were planted.
Under the management of the Leersum forestry service of the State Forestry Service, biodiversity has been further enhanced and you can now walk here in peace and quiet. Bird spotters will enjoy the bird-watching hut.
