Kienehoef is an old park: it was built in the 1930s on the initiative of the then stadtholder Jacobus Kien. He was an important man who owned a lot of land. During the 1930s, there was a lot of unemployment in the region. To put the population to work, he started the construction of a park with a swimming pool and pond as a job creation project.
In the years after the Second World War, a teahouse was added. By then, an aviary, playground, rowing lake and fishing lake had also been constructed. All of these facilities were eagerly used by the residents. The current Kienehoef originated from this park.
Streekpark Kienehoef is located on the outskirts of Sint-Oedenrode. This theme park combines historical value with sustainability and recreational entertainment. In the petting zoo, young and old can get acquainted with various farm animals. Here, they reflect on farm life of the past and present, the changes in food production, healthy nutrition and how to care for animals with respect.
You will also learn about water during your voyage of discovery along the Waadpad. You will walk right through the water and collect a number of water samples, which you can then examine in the water laboratory. Of course, you can also lie back in the grass and enjoy the sun.
