The Jan Visser Museum was originally founded to preserve the agricultural history of the area before the advent of mechanisation. The collection consists of objects that recall old crafts. In 1998, the collection of tools and machines from old crafts was expanded. For example, machines and tools used by butchers, blacksmiths and shoemakers are now on display.
The museum has also been given new premises on the Keizerin Marialaan site, where you can also admire historical material from the Helmond municipal fire brigade and various company fire brigades.
The Jan Visser Museum came into being thanks to the passion of Mr Jan Visser. During forty years of intensive contact with Brabant farmers, he received many tools and implements, which he wanted to preserve for the future.
With the support of the municipality of Helmond and many sponsors, the collection was exhibited in 1983 in a beautifully situated building in farmhouse style. The museum's continued existence is completely dependent on volunteer work.
