In the house of lawyer, banker and above all collector Simon van Gijn, it seems as if time has stood still since 1922. Van Gijn was born in Vlaardingen in 1836 and died in Dordrecht in 1922. As mentioned, he was a collector. He collected all kinds of objects. Silver, ceramics, prints, furniture, and toys, you name it, he collected it. Everything got its own place in his house. During the time he lived there, he regularly received visitors at home to admire his collection.
Now, the objects are displayed in authentically furnished rooms. There are audio tours or multimedia tours available where you can follow the story of Inspector Ziezo or maid Anna. Or join a workshop and guided tour for adults, children and families. There is something to do every day in Huis Van Gijn. Immerse yourself in the world of the 'well-to-do bourgeoisie' in the 19th century.
