From his former home and studio on top of the Kuiperberg hill just outside Ootmarsum, painter Ton Schulten regularly walked down the hill via a narrow sandy path and ended up halfway at the Hezebergweg. This street winding over the esches inspired the painter to create several paintings with the same name ‘Hezebergweg’. You can find a copy from 1998 in the Museum Ton Schulten in Ootmarsum. Here you can clearly see how reality inspired him to create a harmonious, dreamy fantasy landscape full of clean lines and planes in bright colours.
