The Graafs KazemattenMuseum is a special initiative of the "Graeft Voort" Foundation and forms an integral part of the Grave Museum. It offers visitors a fascinating insight into the events of World War II in the region around Grave.
The museum paints a vivid picture of the historical events that took place during this turbulent period. Casemate North serves as a time machine, where visitors are thrown back to 10 May 1940. Here you can discover what went on during the mobilisation and occupation of Grave during the Second World War.
Casemate South takes you back to the liberation of Grave on 17 September 1944. On this memorable day, hundreds of paratroopers from the 82nd Airborne Division were dropped on the northern bank of the Maas. The 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment's main task was the capture of the Maas bridge, resulting in the liberation of Grave.
The impressive exhibits, authentic artefacts and vivid stories bring these crucial moments in history to life in a compelling way. Discover for yourself the meaning and impact of these historical events at the Graafs KazemattenMuseum, an indispensable destination for anyone interested in the history of this period.
