On the outskirts of Mildam stands this little church, built in Romanesque style, since 1726. For centuries it served as a Dutch Reformed church, until 1964. After that, the church fell into disrepair.
The residents of Mildam, together with Monumentenzorg, the municipality of Heerenveen and sponsors, ensured that the church was restored. A foundation was also set up: It Alde Tsjerkje Mildaem Foundation. Since then, several restorations have been carried out.
In 1983, the church was given a new purpose. The Kreatief Kollektief took up residence and set it up as an art gallery. The collective consists of about six people, each of whom practices their own art forms. Although the name of the collective has been changed to Kunst Kollektief, they still find their home in the little church of Mildam.
Every Friday, Saturday and Sunday (except January) you can come and see their work, demonstrations are given and you can buy the artworks.
