Above the entrance to the mill is a small facing brick with the year 1763. This refers to an agreement between the miller and local residents, signed on 24 January 1763. This agreement was a condition set by the Provincial Council and the city council of Groningen for the building permit. However, the mill itself had already been completed in 1762.
The mill was used intensively over the years, and the interior was regularly modified. Around 1946, the milling business was discontinued and the mill was converted into a grain trading centre. In 1959, the municipality bought the mill, which was then restored between 1960 and 1962. In 1976, the attached flour factory and a large grain warehouse were demolished. In 2006, the mill was raised to better match the surrounding high-rise buildings.
