The current mill was built to replace a smaller predecessor from 1793 that was destroyed by fire. The mill originally stood at ‘t Waar, north of Nieuw Scheemda, and was used to drain the De Dellen polder.
In 1901, it was decided to install an auxiliary pumping station with a petroleum engine. This proved unsuccessful, and in 1907 the pumping station was equipped with a steam engine. In 1926, an electric motor was installed to drive the mill's large auger.
In 1985, the mill was dismantled and moved to its current location on the Termunterzijldiep near Nieuw Scheemda. It has been operational again since 1986 and runs regularly thanks to the efforts of volunteer millers.
