Between the orchards west of Overasselt in Gelderland lies the farm of fruit growers Harrie and Esther van Wagenberg. After a dike breach in 1926, the river Maas left a layer of fertile river clay on the land of the van Wagenberg family, who planted an orchard there in the 1960s. When son Harrie left horticultural school in 1990, he wanted to do more than grow the apples and pears he had grown. He wanted to sell and process them himself and started a country shop.
In addition to its own apples and pears, the shop sells products made from its own processed fruit: jams, syrups, sauces and juices. The shop even has a real apple tap.
You will also find other fruit from local colleagues: baking products from the Wijchen Mill and honey from the local beekeeper, as well as eggs, meat and even ice cream, wines and other products from the region. A diverse range at an idyllic spot near the river Maas. A good time to stop off and fill your bicycle bag with goodies from the farm!
