As in his 2002 work 'Ode to the Sun', sculptor Rob Schreefel created a fantastic stage for a weathered boulder with 'Cone with Boulder' by using a large pillar of red Breton granite. But, where the capstone in 'Ode to the Sun' rests on six pillars, here the stone is in a special balancing act with only one cone-shaped pillar slightly angled to the ground.

Sculptor Rob Schreefel (Tegal, Indonesia, 1953) attended the Gerrit Rietveld academy and made several works of art in Drenthe as part of the Art in Stone art project, including the famous 'TT landmark' near the Assen motor circuit. He draws inspiration from mythology, the shape of the stones and the history of the area.
