On one of his many walks from Nuenen to Eindhoven, Van Gogh painted the Collse watermolen. The mill is located almost on the municipal boundary. The water mill is first mentioned in writings dating from 1337. In 2003, the mill was reconstructed and restored, entirely according to Van Gogh's painting. This painting can be found in Het Noordbrabants Museum. The Collse Watermolen is a Van Gogh Monument and a National Monument. In the shop, you can buy various flour products that are milled in the watermill.
Vincent wrote to his painter friend Anthon van Rappard on 29 May 1884:
"It is similar to the two other water mills that we visited together, but with two red roofs and that one sees right from the front - with poplars around it. It will be superb in the autumn."
