Cycle route along Brabant water mills
Helmond, Nuenen, Aarle-Rixtel
There used to be numerous water mills along the Dommel and Aa rivers. Now only a few of them remain. Cycle this tour through the Brabant countryside between the stream valleys of the Dommel and the Aa, in search of the water mills that still remain. Guaranteed beautiful structures with a rich history and therefore of great importance for Brabant's cultural heritage.
From the Hooidonkse Watermolen, which was part of the noble women's convent Hooydonk for centuries, to the Collse Watermolen, located on the Kleine Dommel, to the Opwettense Watermolen, which has the largest water wheel in the Netherlands. You may already know the last two mills from paintings by Vincent van Gogh.
Besides water mills, you will also find ordinary mills on the route. Some of these were also painted or drawn by Vincent van Gogh.
